What will it actually cost, landed?

An ex-works quote is not a price. This builds the whole chain so you can compare an imported frame against a domestic one on the same basis, and see how much of the total is duty.

What this model can and cannot tell you

It is good for

  • Comparing an imported quote against a domestic one on the same basis
  • Seeing what share of your total is duty rather than fabrication
  • Testing how much a design change is worth, since duty is assessed on value
  • Sanity-checking a freight quote against the rest of the chain

It is not

  • Customs advice. Classification decides your duty, and that is your broker’s determination, not ours
  • A live rate feed. Duty rates and freight move; the defaults are a 2026 starting point you should overwrite
  • A quote. Ex-works pricing depends on the drawing

As of October 2026, the US defaults are 50% in the steel duty field and 0% in the other-duty field. The 50% reflects Section 232 at its higher rate (Proclamation 11021 sets 50% for steel articles and the Annex I-A derivatives, and generally 25% for the Annex I-B derivatives). Which list a fabricated frame is on turns on its HTS classification, which is exactly the question to put to your broker before you finalise the scope of supply. The other-duty field is for the 12.5% Section 301 duty on products of Vietnam (USTR notice of 28 July 2026). On our reading of that notice, Section 301 is not stacked on Section 232: it does not apply to articles of steel or derivative steel articles in the metals headings. For a frame that pays the Section 232 duty, the default 0 leaves the 12.5% out so the model does not add it on top; enter 12.5 only for goods outside those headings. This is our reading, not customs advice, and your customs broker must confirm the heading and the exemption for your HTS code and entry date. Background:Section 232 and imported steel frames. For EU, Japanese, Korean and Australian buyers the picture is different and generally more favourable, set the rates to your own position.

Send the drawing and the destination port. The matched shops quote with the Incoterm fixed and the freight shown as its own line, not folded into the price.
